Al-Zawawi is a PhD lecturer at the Middle East Institute. His PhD degree from Middle East Institute, Sakarya University, Master's degree from Euro-Mediterranean Studies Department, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, BA from same university 2002. Worked as a Senior Researcher and head of International Relations Unit at Arab Center for Humanitarian Studies in Cairo from 2009 – 2015, have 5 published books in different areas of specializations, among them are Political Islam, Strategic and National Security issues, and Regional Politics of the Middle East.
