The Lebanese Scene after the Beirut Port Explosion

ABSTRACT

This paper examines the political and economic situation of Lebanon one hundred years after its establishment. In recent years, Lebanon suffers from a major deterioration due to the structure of the existing regime, corruption, and political polarization in the region, which led to the "October revolution". The October Revolution did not achieve any major achievement in the face of the authorities until the explosion of Beirut Port came to reveal the neglect and corruption of the ruling authorities more. Then a large international presence followed after a period of international isolation. Therefore, this article examines - in historical context - the role of international actors and the expected scenarios for the political situation in Lebanon.
